This juvenile coloured scope owl was found by one of our guests. It has fallen out of its nest and been attacked by some crows. Luckily the guests rescued the defenceless owl from its predators and handed the traumatised owl over to our nature guru Eddy, who put the owl into foster care till this night and will reunite it with its mother.
Guests, local community and employees were invited to join the resort’s first #rice harvest in our own #organic rice paddy fields. The paddy fields are one of the latest farming initiatives of the resort, which further enhances the resorts continued sustainability commitments. The resort gardeners and caretakers adhered to traditional planting methods and started cultivating two varieties of rice in November of last year, in order to keep the indigenous farming heritage alive. The cultivation of organic rice is part of a larger mission to educate and curate a wholesome farm-to-plate culinary experience for the resort guests with zero plastic and minimal carbon footprints. The harvest yield is expected to be at 450 kilograms, which will be donated to local schools and community.
A glimpse of yesterday’s pop up dinner with Chef Dharshan from Ministry Of Crab and our culinary team. The culinary event was held at Verala, the resorts Teppanyaki restaurant and a six course menu was served featuring a variety of the best seafood the island holds including some of the signature dishes by Chef Dharshan, all cooked a la minute.
Chef Dharshan Munidasa, founder of the world-renowned and award-winning restaurant Ministry Of Crab in Colombo, will visit Anantara Tangalle for an exclusive culinary event on 24 February. Assisted by the culinary team at the resort, Chef Dharshan will be serving the best quality lagoon crabs and prawns the island holds, together with some of his most popular signature dishes.
