White Nights was inspired by the beautiful portrait of Isabella Rossellini taken by Terry O'Neill during the promotion of the Taylor Hackford film of the same name in 1984. With a perfect symphony of Bombay Sapphire gin, fig Campari, Cocchi vermouth blend, visciole wine and sparkling wine, it's the perfect drink for those long summer evenings.

A much loved guest at The Savoy, today marks Katharine Hepburn's birthday. Protective of her privacy and in need of rest and recuperation, her River View Suite at The Savoy was the perfect place to take a holiday. Reinvigorated, the offers for roles came in thick and fast which lead to a celebrated career including four Best Actress Oscars.
The rooftop of The Savoy has been the setting for many memorable stories, from Walter Hagen practising his golf swing over the Thames to Charlie Chaplin enjoying the view across the city with his wife. Fred Astaire's impromptu performance with his sister has to be one of our favourites! Our historical tours are the perfect way to hear more of our stories.

Born 129 years ago today, Charlie Chaplin was a regular guest at The Savoy. During one of his visits, Roland, one of the receptionists, was delighted to be able to meet his hero. After he had spent considerable time showing the family around their suite, Roland went to leave but ended up in the wardrobe. He did not panic and simply waited until it was quiet outside so he could slip out unnoticed. Unfortunately for Roland, the Chaplins had not left the room and were waiting for him to appear.
The new National Gallery exhibition 'The Credit Suisse Exhibition: Monet & Architecture' is the first time that Monet's career is looked at through the buildings he painted. We have partnered with our friends at The National Gallery to offer a unique Monet experience in recognition of the works he created while he stayed with us.
We are delighted to be celebrating the upcoming wedding between HRH Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle this May with a Royal Afternoon Tea. With pastries inspired by past royal weddings and featuring an exclusive English sparkling wine by Rathfinny Estate, there's no finer way to celebrate such a happy occasion!
A young boy who had heard about The Savoy told his parents that when he was old enough he wanted to work there. In 1893, on his first day he was tasked with cleaning "The Red Lift". Having never heard of a lift before, he made friends with a fellow colleague who showed him the "ascending rooms" before allowing him to take a trip to the third floor! You can hear more wonderful stories like this on our historical tours.
Our friends and neighbours Royal Opera House stopped by recently for a pas de deux on our rooftop ahead of the announcement of the return of 'Manon' from 29 March. One of the signature works of The Royal Ballet repertory, this revival is part of the tribute to choreographer Kenneth MacMillan on the 25th anniversary of his death.
Easter weekend in London means time to spend exploring our wonderful city, time with friends and family and time for yourself. Enjoy sumptuous roast lamb at Simpson’s in the Strand, chocolate treats from Savoy Tea, spring sunshine walks by the Thames and delicious cocktails in our award winning bars.
Sustainability and being environmentally responsible are at the heart of what we do at The Savoy. That's why you won't find plastic straws served with our cocktails (though we do have biodegradable straws available on request!). Our newest American Bar senior bartender Giannis has created The Last Straw in recognition of this.
We are proud to be taking part in Earth Hour where we will switch off the lights in a show of support for this international event. Earth Hour is a unique annual phenomenon where at 8.30pm on 24th March, iconic buildings in the UK and across the world will turn off their lights for one hour in a huge, symbolic show of support to protect our planet.
To celebrate World Poetry Day, we are delighted to share this lovely poem by Mary Baum. Mary visited The Savoy many times during her life and was a keen writer. Sadly, Mary passed away in 2016 but her family are sharing her work to help raise funds for palliative care in Sussex. You can learn more here: http://fal.cn/4ovQ
The toots of tugboats up and down the Thames is a familiar sound to us here at The Savoy thanks to our place on the riverside. And it's now a familiar sound in our bathtubs! Our little guests (and some of our older ones!) will definitely not grumble about bathtime with these special Savoy tugboats to play with!
Born from artistic foundations, The Savoy remains intertwined with art in all its various forms. The walls of the American Bar are decorated with wonderful photography by the great Terry O'Neill and it is these photographs that have formed the inspiration for bespoke cocktails that bring the stories on our walls to life.

Love is in the air and all around at The Savoy this week! We were delighted to host the launch party for Dolly Alderton's wonderful book 'Everything I Know About Love' last week which got us thinking about all the things we know about love. We've hosted weddings, helped plan proposals and celebrated anniversaries, and we'd love to hear your Savoy love stories!
