At our Indonesian restaurant Sawah Terrace, we serve “lalapan” before every meal, as to suppose to bread. Lalapan is a raw vegetable salad, featuring cucumber, tomato, long beans, cabbage and lemon basil served with sambal as a spicy dipping sauce for these assorted vegetables. It’s a very popular side dish throughout Indonesia and is usually served next to grilled chicken, fried catfish, grilled fish and more.
