Last afternoon an Olive Ridley was found floating, tangled in a large jute sack close to Jetty 3 by some of our Engineering team, who rescued her and brought her to the Jetty, where they helped to remove the sack from her front flipper with the help of Sarah, our Marine Biologist and Environmental Officer. Unfortunately her flippers was severely damaged from being tangled for so long, and so the turtle was immediately taken to Four Season Kuda Huraa rehabilitation where she will receive care from the Marinesavers team. We hope that once her wounds have healed and she is healthy again, she will learn to adjust to life with only 3 flippers, and can then be returned back to the ocean. #GiliStory #TurtleRescue

We could think of nowhere better to celebrate my 50th Birthday so returned with all the family to this wonderful island in January 2018. Once again we had a holiday of a lifetime, made even more special by the warmth of the Gili family and Shaan in particular. We were due to return in March 2019 but sadly will have to postpone this visit until later. Thank you for all of your support, we look forward to seeing you again." - Paul, Andrea & Family
The Gili Organic Garden is flourishing with flavorful evergreens. Today we take a closer look into our nursery of plants. Also known as ‘Dew of the Sea’ for its minty taste and aroma, Rosemary is one of our home-grown plants. Their blue-green needle-like leaves are rich in flavor and aroma, and has powerful health benefits. It is versatile and used as a seasoning in a variety of dishes from soups, casseroles, salads, and stuffing on roasts. More reasons for you to munch on these leafy evergreens! #TastyTuesday
The importance of seagrass in Maldives is not yet recognized and is highly undervalued around the world. Like the coral reefs and rainforests of the tropics, these underwater gardens are full of life, hosting many animals of different shapes, colours and sizes. Moreover, they occupy only 0.1% of the seafloor, yet are responsible for 11% of the organic carbon buried in the ocean. Today marks World Seagrass Day, we have been protecting our seagrass beds since 2017. Now we continue our commitment by pledging to protect a minimum 80% of our 1250m² seagrass meadows. We are proud to partner with Maldives Underwater Initiative and The Maldives Resilient Reefs Project, and join the campaign #ProtectMaldivesSeagrass to raise awareness of these beautiful underwater gardens as well as to recognize them as a vital part of our ecosystem.
Over the past week, our team of marine biologists managed to successfully transplant few corals from our nursery that were ready to be transferred to from the lines to their new homes. We are happy to say that the corals are healthy and have the potential to grow on the reef system around One Palm Island. #marinebiologymonday
The water we produce at Gili Lankanfushi comes from the ocean. We use glass packaging to store and transport water as glass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled endlessly without loss in quality or purity. This is one of our major initiatives to go plastic free and to encourage sustainable practices. #sustainablesaturday
