August is the month for fireworks on the Amalfi Coast; from the spectacular display on the 4th of August for San Domenico over San Gennaro church in Praiano (the view from Positano is also magnificent) to the famous celebration on the 15th of August for Ferragosto when the whole coast lights up 🎆 Photo: Roberto Salomone
It's an August evening, that familiar golden light lingers as sunset puts on its colourful performance over Positano for us once again. By midsummer we're used to this show but it's impossible to take it for granted and we're always pleased to think of how many guests will cherish the memories of each individual one. Museo Archeologico di Napoli, the MANN, has upped its game in recent years. It always had some amazing pieces from Pompeii and Herculaneum, but several rooms had been closed for years, and the ambience was staid, old-school museum. That’s now changing. Latest stage of the MANN relaunch engineered by its director, Paolo Giulierini, is the reopening of the Magna Grecia room, which charts in over 400 artifacts the complex multi-ethnic world that existed in Southern Italy before the Roman conquest.
Talented Naples-based artist Anna Monaco was struck by the colours, light and mythical surroundings of Le Sirenuse when she visited last year. It was the view of the Li Galli islands from the terrace that cemented the idea for her next project: to recount the story of Ulysses (Odysseus) and the Sirens in a series of illustrations that take inspiration from the hues, shapes and moods of Le Sirenuse and Positano. You can visit her instagram account for other works and for the link to her online shop:
La Sponda chef Gennaro Russo believes that some of the world’s best ingredients can be found in and around the Amalfi Coast. To prove it he’s introduced a 'Menù Cultura Locale - The Chef's Menu' designed to exalt great local produce and traditional cooking techniques. To make this culinary journey even more special, why not pair each dish with a glass of wine chosen by our sommelier to complement its tones and flavours? First up: Ravioli filled with mozzarella, diced Sorrento tomato and basil. Photo: Roberto Salomone
"Post-work aperitivo with friends. It’s always a great day when I can finish it with this view and a glass of Barolo." Swirl the glass With these light evenings and glorious spring sunsets our Champagne Bar & Grill is such a wonderful spot for aperitivo or an al fresco dinner 🦐 bit.ly/LeSirenuseDining
It’s a wrap for the first edition of Dolce Vitality. It was a memorable week of long walks in the mountains above Positano, gentle but not too gentle afternoon workouts, restorative massages and yoga sessions that channeled the energy of this unique place. Firm friendships were formed, and chef Gennaro Russo’s Mediterranean Vegan menu went down so well it almost (but not quite) made us forget we were counting calories. Ciao for now… until November! #DolceVitality #LeSirenuse Find out about our November retreat:
